9 Things to Include on the Camping Trip – Camping for beginners Guide

Have you ever thought of escaping from your daily life routine and live a life where everything is perfect without any troubles. Fresh air scented with pine needles, the color of sky changes from blue, sometimes its orange other times just a mixed hue, evening around a campfire, a starry sky, and you standing right below it is the most under-rated pleasure of life. Pathways to some untold peace, narrow corridors into the heartland of tranquility. Such a beauty, the essence of nature all over you, soothing your mind and soul, believe me, then, you need nothing more. You can carry many things with you on the camping trip to make it easy and comfortable. But who needs comfort in the wild? It should be an adventure.

I wouldn’t say I like carrying a ton of stuff with me to camp. The primitive style of living has fascinated me ever since I was a kid. The fascination has been transformed into a passion now. I think of camping as the most beautiful adventure of life, making your weapons by carving wood, going hunting, wandering around, finding that unexplored path, fishing, climbing, and other outdoor activities. The camping trip is more like an adventure than a project, and it doesn’t have to be much complicated or expensive. Once you have a basic knowledge of it, you’ll be able to seize every moment of yours in the wild.

First things first, to capture the essence of nature in your trip, you’ll be needing to know how you can make your own temporary home out there. So let’s start with how you can make your home in the woods.

Shelter

Camping for beginners includes carrying a tent with you. The shelter is the first and the foremost thing to be considered. Most camping sites provide you enough material to build your shelter, although chances are you won’t be able to put it together before you need one. There are all sorts of natural construction materials such as wood, bamboo, grass, pine branches, vines, etc. Nonetheless, a beginner’s camp kit must cover a tent or an RV.

Sleeping Bag and mats

Usually, the ground gets pretty cold at night. In some scenarios, the base of your camping spot may be damp or even wet. Therefore, sleeping bags and mats are imperative to bring with you. Blankets are a good substitute as well but do occupy a lot of space.

Medical kit

While no one should picture them getting injured whenever they think of camping for beginners, it is a smart move to be prepared for any mishappenings and to include medical supplies in your camping kit.

Carry the following to ensure you are fully covered on the camping trip:-

  • Disposable gloves
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Antiseptic solution (like hydrogen peroxide)
  • Bandages
  • Tweezers
  • Medical tape
  • Gauze dressing
  • Safety pin
  • Antiseptic wipes

Hatchet or Axe

To lite a fire, you will need wood. You can collect the wood from the ground around your camp, but you will also need to cut it. A hatchet or an ax is a survival kit requisite and a camping kit essential.

Matches or a firestarter kit

A firestarter is one of the essential parts of the camping trip. It would help if you had a fire to cook food, boil water, and, more importantly, for warmth. It would be best to bring either a pack of matchboxes or lighters/clippers or a flint rod to start a fire, whichever suits your requirements. However, carrying one of each wouldn’t hurt, “better safe than sorry,” right?

Note:- Flint rod works for me the best as it serves regardless of the weather conditions. Matches and lighter might turn against you on rainy or snowy days.

Food

There are no specifics for food while camping, although dehydrated foods are an excellent option to consider for the camping trip. It is lighter than cooked food and remains edible for longer. You can pack dehydrated vegetables, fruits, and meat. You might also consider bringing multigrain cookies and nuts to gain some energy before you start cooking. Roasting food over fire is a fun way to cook your appetizers and dessert.

Water bottles

Last in the list but not the least is water bottles. Water is an essential component, and you should hydrate your body at regular intervals during the camping trip. Tag along a couple of 2-liter water bottles with you, and whenever you come near a stream or any water body, fill them.

Head-lamp or torches

While you can make your fire torches, it is indeed more convenient for camping beginners to carry torches or a head-lamp to light up your campsite.

Toiletry kit

Your toiletry kit could contain a hand sanitizer, toilet paper, soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Dental Floss, Soap, Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Hair Brush. Besides their cleansing usage, these objects could come in handy to create some make-do tool. For instance, toothpaste can alleviate inflammation from bug bites, sores, and blisters.

Final say

The items mentioned above are a must include in camping for beginner kit. Nevertheless, as I said before, you could stuff your bags with other things for more comfort and conditioning during the camping trip. Now, I will put together a list of equipment you might require but won’t have to bring with you, much like foraging your food from the forest. See you in the next blog. Stay tuned!
